Vince,
      You don't have to be an angel to deal with cracked plates.  Talk with
Bob Beck (201)  884-0404.  He is an expert on plates, both with and without
cracks.  He'll even tell you about the plates in the foundry with cracks that
are repaired there and sent on to the factories.  Also about plates in the
factories that break and are then repaired while still string.  And he'll
tell you about plates in the field and what needs to be done to make a
satisfactory repair.
      You may need to run, but in all probability a bit of education will
teach you what can and what cannot be saved.  So don't run, get the answers
from the opne who knows.
