Newton: Concur that metal tuning pin inserts are N.G.! Some years ago i conducted a controlled experiment with sandpaper shims -- put 50% in with sandpaper against wood and 50% in with sand side against pin. Guess what? To my great surprise there was no measurable difference in torque! tunerjim@aol.com
