Bob, If the action you are replacing springs on is a Pratt Read or one of that type you may be able to get a new spring rail from Pratt Win. If you have to replace the springs yourself, remove the felt on the back side, remove what is left of the spring, pull a new one through the old hole. If you replace the felt on the rail(I usually don't) be aware that acid in the old felt may have caused the problem. Good luck, Dale Probst, Registered Piano Technician Ward & Probst, Inc.
