If you have the time, I would suggest that you use a cotton swab LIGHTLY moistened with mineral spirits. Swab gently. The wax will slowly dissolve and be absorbed by the swab. You will use a lot of swabs, but if you are sparing enough with the mineral spirits you will eventually remove the wax without the danger of dripping. By the way, you can clean the wax from your hammer also using this method. The residue of the mineral spirits will evaporate, leaving a clean surface. Good luck Terry Neely
