Audrey-- It won't be inexpensive, but a top-notch machinist/tool & die maker should be able to custom-fabricate a replacement agraffe for you with- out much trouble. He will, however, need an intact agraffe upon which to base his duplicate, so you'll have to remove one from the piano for him. I picked up on this thread a little late, so I don't know if the broken stub is still in the plate or not, but if it is it will have to be removed first. If you haven't done this before, you might want to have the machinist do that for you as well, as you'll really have prob- lems if you mess up the threads so badly that they can't be retapped. DON'T try using a cut-off American agraffe in that hole because you'll probably wind up ruining the threads. I specialize in restoring 1875- 1930 vintage pianos, and fortunately have such a machinist who has saved my you-know-what many times. Because I restored a piano for him years ago, he doesn't soak me too badly. :) Good luck! Les Smith
