Thanks Peter and Fred,

These are all points I was expecting to address.

My limited experience with these newer instruments has given me the same
feelings as Fred.

One of the biggest changes in 'feel' came from lubing the key bushings with
pro lube and easing the balance holes.

As Fred said, levelling, filing and fitting seems to have been missing from
previous technician visits.... After this proceedure the tone became
focussed and then responded well to the needles.....pushed and stabbed :-)

Good luck.

Thanks, Ed. I am not very impressed with this piano. It lacks finesse.
I'll try to make it as good as I can in a one-day visit. Have a good time
in Las Vegas.

The fairly new Masons I have seen had not had much deep shoulder needling
and mating, and strings were quite unlevel, among other things. The hammers
are nice to work with, and results were quite positive (for the couple I
have been able to spend a day or two on).
