[CAUT] marking harmonics on strings

Just wondering if, in an effort to keep tape and chalk off the strings, anyone has resorted to marking commonly used harmonics directly on the strings with a Sharpie. And, if you have, did you make the mark right where the harmonics lie, or on the proximal side (so you can still see the mark between you and your finger while touching the harmonic)? There is a manufacturer (Seiler, if memory serves) that has lines on the soundboard of at least one model to indicate where the harmonics are on the strings. I wonder if there is a parallax issue with this, depending as it does on the relative position of your head to the lines (and, therefore, where the string would intersect the lines). Having the strings pre-marked (and permanently marked) would be convenient for the players.

Well?

Thanks,

Alan Eder
