 Alan asks:

>>.  Just out of curiosity, when you say that in order to achieve
consistent aftertouch:
This is done by allowing keydip to vary by .010"
does that mean plus or minus .005" from whatever your target key dip
is, or is it usually more like up to .010" deeper dip?

I begin by placing a blue and pink punching at the bottom of the front
pins. Then use cardboard, etc. to get a measured keydip of say,
.390"-.400". I do this with a weighted touch block. After regulating
everything but aftertouch, I go back through and using a spacer whose
thickness is the amount of aftertouch I want, (it varies from pianist
to pianist and piano to piano), and either add or subtract up to .010"
to make the aftertouch even. If that degree of change won't do it, I
will alter the hammer blow a bit from note to note to get there. It
makes the irregularity invisible.
Hope that helps,
Regards,
Ed Foote RPT
