[CAUT] Position Available

I was the last technician there. The problem is the University has provided no (rebuilding) tools, space and shop for any of the pianos.
You have to provide tools, space and shop for repairs. I failed to convince the University to supply tools, space and shop.
Most of the pianos need shop work, yet there is no shop, space or tools provided for this work. Dr. Parr is aware of this.
You can only house call service the instruments so much, then serious rebuilding tools, space and shop is unavoidable and required.
I was naive enough to believe I could do the job without the rebuilding tools, space, and shop. It's strange because the Fine Arts College
is provided with a fully equipped repair/carpenter shop and space for building their stage props. If you have all the tools, space, and shop,
then, and only then do I recommend SFASU. Since the university climate control "problem" appears among 90% of the of the commentary
put forth by CAUTS, it will suffice here to say the climate control has been the chief complain of all the technicians who have gone before
me here at Stefen F. Austin State University.

Paul:

I have been there a couple of
times. I put some new hammers on a D they had in their recital hall as the
technician they were using half-time at that time was visually impaired. He
was an excellent tuner but has since retired. After he retired they tried to
get someone ¾ time, and some other part-time arrangements but I suspect that
they had a hard time getting someone to move there for a part time job. Nacogdoches
is a nice town, and I have a nephew who graduated from SFA which is a good
school. From my observation, now that they have made it an actual full-time
position I’d think it would be a good gig. You could pick up extra
income from the area as there are not a lot of techs around there. Dr. Parr is
a nice man and a good musician.

Thanks and this
is interesting.

When I was
interviewing exactly 3 years ago this week, this job became available just as I
was asked to interview at UNL. Does anyone know if they ever filled it,
the tech didn't work out, didn't like it, etc. I checked out the position
and it looked a little less than what I was applying for, but still looked like
a fairly decent position and cost of living is average around there (back 3
years ago)

I may inform a
fellow tech who's toying with the idea of CAUT work, but wondered if any of you
know what happened in Nacogdoches. (could it be the spelling of the town
:>) )
