My question would be: "Why don't we expect the performers, who we would assume would be either professional musicians, collegiate faculty or advanced college students, any and all of whom are supposed to have thoroughly researched and studied the music they are performing, to do the research and make suggestions for what temperament would have been appropriate?" If the lowly piano tuner is left with the responsibility of the decision, we leave the performers (ahem, those who are considered to be the experts) to remain ignorant of what is going on. They have no idea what is going on or why. Therefore, any authenticity is lost and you basically have presented a novelty. They are the ones who have either earned or are pursuing the degrees, no?
