I just meant I can't subscribe to it.  I meant no disrespect to that list, but even accessing it in the archives demonstrates that the volume level is still exponentially larger than CAUT. I get to my email box now less than twice a week. Even now I just stopped by on the way out, but wanted to respond.

It may have been before 2006 when I last posted to pianotech, but it was after a similar suggestion that pianotech had calmed down and the volume of emails had dropped off dramatically. And, at the time, I was at the university (different email address there) and on broadband.  What took half a day was reading the responses I was looking for, other posts not related to mine and deleting emails I didn't have time for, even though I wanted to read them.

When you've got three children, a store and a pretty full service schedule, it is impossible to sit in front of the computer enough to manage the volume from both lists.

  I don't mean to single you out in this recent climate of Pianotech bashing, as Rob,G, for one, has made some similar statements, nor do I want to get into issues  of list protocols or appropriateness,  per se, but, free speech aside,  I do take issue with a your perpetuation of a dated and distorted impression of that list.  First of all, the issues of the cost of Broadband and its accessibility, or the frustration with the speed of dial-up, while valid concerns, should have nothing to do with assessing the quality of the content of these lists.  If you did have high speed connection, you'd still have to come up with an effective approach to dealing with the increasing information overload, of which these lists are just a part.  That it took you half a day to do this might speak to some other aspect of your process.  Also, I'd be curious as to what recent email posting of yours, to Pianotech, I may have missed.  My own current personal archive of Pianotech goes back only to May of 2006, but I can't find any posting from you.  

  The character of the 'lists' is defined by the characters ON the list.  There is nothing constructive to be derived from posting these sorts of comments on CAUT.  If you think there is some problem with Pianotech, work it out there.

    I did subscribe to the pianotech list not long ago just for the purpose of posing one question, getting a few responses and unsubscribing.  When I got back to my mailbox the next morning, it took me half a day to sort through the responses I was interested in and just hitting the delete key for those not related.  In my case, still on dial up for very good reasons (saving over $40 a month to have access from both home and the business), that also means quite a long time to download the emails into the inbox.
