This sounds interesting, Rick,, So it works for tight bushings, too? (I never get those except in July and August when nobody's here, so I let them slide :>) Paul Jim Busby <jim_busby at byu.edu> Sent by: caut-bounces at ptg.org 10/20/2008 03:48 PM Please respond to College and University Technicians <caut at ptg.org> To College and University Technicians <caut at ptg.org> cc Subject Re: [CAUT] S&S Key Bushings Hi Anne, Could you post said list or should we ask Don? Pianotek has compiled a list of successful uses from techs all over the country. These include action centers, key bushings, damper guide rail bushings, trapwork/keybed bushings, and yes, damper felt. We use warm cauls in the key bushings and leave them over night. This has revolutionized practice room key bushing protocols! We do more resizing than rebushing lately and can get pianos back in service very quickly. Tight bushings were successfully resized. That was only 10 days ago however, still waiting the long-term results. I have not tried less than overnight yet. I have wondered if using heated cauls would speed up the process. ____________________ Rick Florence Senior Piano Technician Arizona State University School of Music -----Original Message----- From: caut-bounces at ptg.org [mailto:caut-bounces at ptg.org] On Behalf Of Jon Page Sent: Monday, October 20, 2008 12:43 PM To: caut at ptg.org Subject: [CAUT] S&S Key Bushings The S&S I was working on had bushings which were too tight and using a key bushing iron softened the glue more than it sized the opening. Would the VSP properly size the gap in this case with the use of cauls? The only problem with this is that sometimes waiting overnight with the cauls in place is not an option. -- Regards, Jon Page -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
