Jeannie - I get a pair of vice grips, and set them to close
the opening as well as possible. I then open slightly, spray
accelerator, and then quickly drip some CA (med. or thick)
into the opening..close..quick spray of accelerator.. and
hold for 30 seconds.

Sometimes you just catch the tip of the felt to clamp, and
then there are times you get a good portion of the felt.
Getting that vice grip set is key.

Tone restoration depends on individual ears. There is
usually a difference in tone from a CAed hammer to a non
CAed hammer. Your mileage will vary from hammer to hammer,
but tone can be built back up, usually just on the crown.
