[CAUT] Smoke Damage

Greetings, List

Will exposure to smoke, or subsequent ozone treatment, or both, kill the tone of a set of fairly new bass strings?

Any other wisdom or experiences you could share with respect to how smoke (from a fire, not cigarette smoke) affects other piano parts would also be appreciated (for example, does felt, being very porous, respond well to ozone treatment, or should it all be replaced?).

Thanks in advance,
Albert Picknell
