[CAUT] PTG Dues

Nope.

I figure the school has a more or less set amount of money to devote to
purchasing my labor services. I can take that money in my paycheck and pay
my dues, or I can get them to write the check instead. What¹s the
difference? Plus, I have private clients outside my university job, and
thus am self-employed, so my dues are a deductible business expense anyway.
Any time you ³get the employer to pay for² something, it will redound on
your paycheck, usually in foregone future raises. There ain¹t no free
lunch.

Curmudgeonly yours,
Ken Z.
