Hi everyone! I'm new here. Just a few words to introduce myself.
I have been living in Germany for the past 40 years(total). I went
there to live and study(to become a piano builder - 'Klavierbaumeister')
My name is Ron Worth

I have followed all your convos/discussions only for the last few months.
I feel 99% of all (piano instrument) subjects discussed, can be answered
(at least partially) to everyone's satisfaction with the following
literature:

1.)Piano- und Flügelreparatur
   Carl-Johan Forss
   ISBN: 3-923639-43-0

(the link to detailed synopsis...)

http://www.bochinsky.de/index.php/cPath/29/category/klavier.html/
XTCsid/60d1631ee9ee81523d6eae7b60f27ab9

(This one is also in english - I'll be working on the translations for
the other reading suggestions that follow - Guys and gals
who have done the german apprenticeship/master program -
3 and 1/2 years apprenticeship and 1 year masters will recognize
some of the literature and authors I found/find helpful in the
course of my studies to pass the german examinations -
"gesellen/meisterprüfungen")

2.)Die Regulierungen von Piano- und Flügelmechaniken
    Carl-Johan Forss
    ISBN: 978-3-932275-82-1

3.)Praktisches Handbuch der Klavierkonstruktion
   Klaus Fenner, Jan Großbach
   ISBN 978-3-9236639-39-7

(These guys I know/knew personally...my "heros/mentors"...
they'll just smile at that and go back to 'scat' playing)

4.)Fachkunde Klavierbau
   Ulrich Laible
   ISBN: 978-3-923639-95-3

(Another of my "mentors" during early examinations and schooling)

....everyone knows the lists/sources/books are endless and go on and
on...some good, some bad.

...for "theorists" who love math, I'll just mention 2 of an (endless) number
of
articles/journals/books, which, (because they impressed/influenced me)
belong to my (endless!) favorites...

1.) "Computer Modeling of a Vibrating Piano String"
        by Mindy Lu Garber

(Submitted to the department of mechanical engineering
in partial fulfillment or the requirements of the degree of
Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering) at the

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Archives Libraries -
Jun 24, 1982 (!) )...(the program was written in FORTRAN
on a VAX/VMS OS!!) (which now "fits" into the TI-89!!)

2.) Journal of Sound and Vibration(1972) 20(3), 407-412

"On vibrating strings and information theory"

      T. W Barrett
      Dept. of Physiology and Biophysics,
University of Tennessee Medical Units, memphis, Tennessee 38103,
U.S.A.
Received 31 July 1971, and in revised form 30 November 1971

...with that...(the links and references) I hope everyone finds something
either helpful and/or interesting...and/or mention a few of their favorites
too.

ps.: Also interesting reading was/is Don A. Gilmore's Patent - the rights
which
are now owned by QRS Music Technologies.

Thank you for letting me contribute to your forum.

sincerely,
Ron
