Conrad,
I think a good day might have been better if you had some of the new PTG
coloring booklets to hand out to the kids. I find them to be a great friend
maker.

Cauterized folks,

I had a great day Saturday...

1. Hardman Peck 85 note Minipiano, 75¢ flat, not tuned in 15+ years,
moved/stored, etc.
- pitch raise and tune - good start on a backache.
2. Whitney 45" (yearly tuning)
3. 5 yr old Schubert(Belarus) 45", continental case, >100¢ flat, rubbing
hammers, difficulty determining which groups of three strings were supposed
to be hit by which hammers, etc.
- spaced some hammers, numerous strings, two pitch raises then tuned,
thought many impure thoughts...
4. Whitney grand (yearly tuning)

Sure keeps ya honest when you have a challenging day like that.

What made it a great day?

#1. Everything worked and it tuned up very cleanly, but the best part was
the enthusiastic 7 yr old just starting and the mother who wants to resume.
#2. The daughter started at my college this year, and is taking piano
lessons.
#3. The very enthusiastic 6 yr old boy and 7 yr old girl. (He was the one
pushing for getting a piano!)
#4. The 6th grade daughter who watched my entire tuning, wanted to know
about everything I was doing, what each tool I used was for and said "this
sounds great, now!" when I was done. The mother who asked around among her
friends and had lined up the whole day for me, and asked if I'd like her to
line up another full day in the spring. (this was the third time she'd done
this for me)

This day confirmed my feeling that I don't have customers, I have friends
who have pianos that they let me work on when I come to visit.

BTW, I think I _DID_ convince my dept head to "allow" me to use Wurzen on
the B.
