[CAUT] piano dollie question

We have a Steinway B on a Colson dollie that lives on a smallish 14" stage. Occasionally, the piano needs to be taken off stage(no ramps)and moved onto an elevator for use in another part of the building. The building ops people are looking for a better way to move this thing around without having to mess with the the Colson dollie. I'd consider regular rubber casters but would be concerned about going over the elevator threshold. Can the Colson be permanently attached to the piano?

I'd consider a Jansen transporter, but storage is an issue with these.

I'd appreciate any ideas.
