Hi List,

I've been invited to conduct a workshop entitled "Ten Things Every
Musician Should Know About Pianos." Got an outline worked up but wanted
to canvas fellow institutionalized technicians. What (general) points
do folks consider the most essential to get across in a forum such as
this?

Thanks,

Alan Eder, RPT

1. the names of the case parts.
2. the name and number of the keys
3. the name of the major components of the piano, like strings, soundboard,
pin block, etc.
4. why a piano goes out of tune
5. where to place a piano in a room
6. how often a piano should be voiced and regualted
7. the effects of temperature and humidity changes on a piano.
8. where to look for a piano tuner.
9. the effects of a climate control system.
10. why piano tuners have to charge what they do.
