Greetings Ric & list: I have been using VPC for about two weeks now. I'm using an Ipaq 2495 (520 mhz). Dave Carpenter recommended this over the Dell Axim I was considering as there is a substantial difference in speed due to the way each machine "redraws" the screen. Or something like that. I have found the program faster to use than the stand alone VT100. Perhaps because it's quicker to navigate/input data and there is no warm-up period with the Ipaq. The inharmonicity seems to be measured faster, and the accuracy is the same. A couple of quirks need to be worked out yet: The "measured" function is not yet working, and the calibrate function requires an extra step of starting a new tuning first, THEN going back to the calibrate page to actually calibrate. Dave C is aware of both of these problems and is promising an update in the near future. Having used the six-pound VT100 for about four years, I was anxious to get the VPCand take a load out of my too-heavy tool kit. I am very happy with the new program and would recommend it to anyone considering making the move. Dave C said that he hasn't been advertising it since he doesn't have the manual done yet...but that anyone familiar with the VT100 will have no problem figuring the new program out without it.
