Grin.. These things are always easy when you already know the answer. I still dont know if its at the beginning of the pedal release or at the end. But as I understand it the action guises the sound if in the piano and when out the sound changes from a click to a paperish sound and you can identify the direction its coming from. Loose damper tray centers on Yamahas cause something not disimilar to your description... but then thats also accompanied with dampers lifting uneven when one of them works their way out. Not knowing the exact configuration of the pedal levers for the Bosendorfer in question I'd have to guess... but it sounds like you might have something wrong with the way the pushrod (pitman I think you call it over there ? ) engages the damper tray.... or something of that sort. You did say no foreign materials present... so its either the tray mounts / centers themselves or something about the pushrod /tray. OR ?!!... I'm out in left field as usual :) Cheers RicB ---------- The action has no bearing on it but when out of the way I can hear where the problem is coming from.... David Ilvedson, RPT Pacifica, California >Hi Dave >One question. Is the noise evident at the start of damper pedal release >or at the end (rest position) ? Trying to figure why the action being in >or out should have any effect at all.... Damper levers dont come in >contact with the keytails.... nothing else about the action is supposed >to engage the damper system at all unless you have the sustenato lever >built into the action. Hmmmm :) >Cheers
