[CAUT] hammer butt replacement

Take off the cloth and hide glue with water and wall paper remover. Pry the bent end of the wire up and pull the old springs out. Clean the hole with a piece of wire so the hide glue does not set back up in the hole.  When you put the new springs back in you can use a straight piece of rod to keep the coils straight. I used a coat hanger. Search the piano tech archives for more details and methods.

  can someone tell me the best way to replace hammer butt springs in a kimball? it looks like some type of cloth that holds the spring in place. how do i get it out? what do i use to replace the cloth? (i have the springs from Schaff already)
