Thanks to all with the great advice. I'm going to address different responses here rather than send out individual emails. It is a NY Steinway..an N class. I've been told the N class is the best they have..I'm sure I'll be corrected, but that's what I've been told. Dale, the board is holding its own..typical killer octave concerns. The bass is great. Dave Love: I sat in on a Steinway Voicing Seminar in Boca Raton last October given by Kent and some members of the C&A group. Your response closely resembles theres..stay close to the crown and don't use liquids. The hammers on this D are 8 years old, and they are slightly overstriking. They were installed shortly before I got there. The action flies. Steinway action. Wim: The liquids I was suggesting were a softening agent..not lacquer..and Dave Love reminded me that NY Steinways don't need softening liquids..just needling. I'll see the piano on Tuesday. I'll let you know how I make out. Thanks to all, Phil Bondi(Fl)
