This does remind me of a story my father used to tell. When he and my
mother were students at Oberlin around 1940, Robert Casadesus came to
play. He tried to walk through the stage door and was stopped by a
student usher. "Je suis l'artiste! Je suis l'artiste!" he said. The
student didn't know French ...
