This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment Tom, =20 You won't see too many pre-WW-II Yamaha or Kawai pianos, although a few of them pop up now and then. =20 In Japan I have seen Yamaha upright pianos from the 1890s at the Hamamatsu musical instrument museum. Kawai owns a number of old Kawai grands and uprights from the 1920s and 30s. It's pretty rare to see them over here. =20 Grey market people wouldn't likely be importing the old ones - it doesn't make sense financially. The newer ones are worth the transportation costs. =20 Don Mannino =20 -----Original Message----- From: Tompiano@aol.com [mailto:Tompiano@aol.com]=20 Sent: Tuesday, October 07, 2003 7:02 PM To: caut@ptg.org Subject: oldest Yamaha List, Just curious as to the oldest Yamaha or Kawai anyone has come across. I know Yamaha has been making pianos since the last part of the 1800's, however I find it strange there are no signs of any oldies floating around. The oldest Yamaha I have seen dates back to the late 1950s. Tom Servinsky=20 ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
