Greetings, A customer of mine has recently been approached to sell his Bechstein. It is a 1960 concert grand, in ebony. The finish is only three years old or so, and is in near mint condition. Original strings sound good and the block is nice. I replaced hammers and shanks, repinned the action, and did the incidentals several years ago, and since it is in a private studio, there has been very little play on the piano. I don't really know why he is selling a piano that most of the musicians around here think is a great one, but anyway, he wanted to know an approximate value. I don't see enough of these traded to feel overly informed of the market, but told him that I would guess at a range of $30-50K, but I don't really know what the value might be. Anybody that may have seen similar Bechsteins sold and can shed light on this valuation, please do. Thanks, Ed Foote RPT www.uk-piano.org/edfoote/ www.uk-piano.org/edfoote/well_tempered_piano.html
