On a somewhat related note:

I have seen little pieces of felt at the front terminations(Octaves 5 and 6
mostly) on some B's around here. I have been told to "LEAVE THEM ALONE". I
see one particular "B" when the Symphony rents it out for a rehersal.

Now..the S&S dealer knows me, and I know him..but I have a problem with the
theory of  "leave them alone".

It's funny to me that these felts are even there, since this particular B is
pretty lifeless and lilt.

My guess is there's some unwanted noise coming from this section, and this
is their technicians way of dampening the sound.

Does anyone else here do this, or is this something that I am privlidged
to see?
