When you say "tenor rear duplex section", I assume you mean the near the
hitch pins?  The section of wire from there to the bridge?  That area is
typically braided in all pianos so there is no shame...

In my experience David, the braiding usually starts where the duplex
(aliquot bars) scale ends, about halfway through the tenor.  So, we change a
tradition.  No harm perhaps, except the darn thing (duplex scale) is "tuned"
so nicely!
