So let me get this straight. You are claiming that the ability to
calculate the amount of compression that form in a given panel that is
subjected to X amount of downwards pressure is a matter of propriety
information ?
Strikes me as this is a general information issue. Designing rib scales
themselves is a different matter and I can certainly see why someone
would want to protect their own design methods. Just as I see and
respect using registered trademarks without permissions, respecting
patent rights... and the rest of it.

The tradition of sharing information in this trade is a
wonderful one and I
have certainly benefited and tried to contribute to others in that
tradition. Nevertheless, there are certain things that remain
proprietary
for a number reasons: Out of respect to those who have shared
things in
confidence, having labored myself for countless hours in
development, and
because much of the information is an ongoing work in progress
(to name a
few), I'm just not quite ready to hand it over. The basic
approach to
calculating RC&S deflections has been discussed on the list.
The specific
applications for that information is a separate matter.
That being said, the issue of predictability, control and
preculated rates
of deflection is not new and should be part of any serious
attempt at
design.

ooh Ric,
You're touching on trade secret territory here. You might just have to
divulge your Credit card number to get answers. The Internet is a
free for
all but unfortunately not all for free.
