Why were certain notes on my customer's nice old German upright going "dunk"? Because the damper felts had come off the heads and stuck to the strings. This action has a set of "fly dampers" in the bass - not unusual - BUT, in this action, they are below the level of the hammers. See pic. I've not seen this before.
