This was toward the end of the Kimball era and it was one of their attempts to move to a higher place in the piano industry.  These mostly appeared in studio pianos.  I have serviced a few of these over the years and for the most part they work well.  Like anything else occasional maintenance is required especially after they get a few years on them.

I tuned a Kimball studio with a Herrberger Brooks Langer action in 
it.  All went well except for the fact that this action had an additional 
spring to facilitate faster repetition.  During the tuning I had to adjust 
a few dozen or so to rid those notes of repetition failure.
 
There’s a brass colored spring consisting of an L shaped piece of wire 
.......  the long part of the wire is embedded in the back of the catcher, 
aimed downward about 45 degrees towards the long part of the jack.  On the 
jack is a piece of buckskin for which the short part of the spring’s L shape 
rides against during anytime but at rest.  It’s supposed to help push the 
jack back under the hammer butt ...  in addition to the traditional coil 
shaped jack spring  .........  also brass in color.  If adjusted 
too tight, it causes the jack to hang up on the buckskin of the hammer butt when 
returning.  This means the jack doesn’t get back under the butt for another 
blow.  Quite annoying when trying to tune.  I adjusted the spring down 
and to the right to lessen the force and that fixed the failure.
 
The hammer rail proudly labeled the action as a Langer whatever with a h. 
b. jack or something like that.  I just knew I should have taken a 
picture.  I got focused on visiting with a very pleasant artist type about 
my age instead.  Anyone have a clue what I’m talking 
about??    The action guys, not the girl ok??
