[pianotech] interesting piano

A very wealthy customer would paint her Gulbransen spinet to match the red, blue, green, or flamingo pink paint in her family room. I would get called every three or four years to tune the piano, but I had to pry open the piano every time. Over the 20 years I tuned this piano, it probably got 5 or 6 different coats of paint on it.

I also had a customer buy a Kimball console from me, but waited 4 month before she would allow me to tune it. When I got there, not only had she painted it white, but she also drew a colorful scarf draped over the top and down the side of piano. There was also a rose painted on the top, and a mouse hole, with a mouse sticking it's head out of the hole, next to the pedals. Very artistically done. But because of the all the paint, it took almost three years for the piano to become stable. I wish I had taken a picture, but this was way before digital cameras, much less cell phones.

Hi Everone,
Here's something you don't see too often. I found this on craigslist. It's a player piano. I cracked up when I saw it. Sorry if the picture is hge. I cannot figure out how to resize it.
