Get a sack of cheap brown cotton gloves from the lumber yard, wash and dry them, and then slather some Nature's Gate fragrance-free hand lotion on your hands (available at most supermarkets and health-food stores) and stuff them into the gloves at bed-time. Makes your hands feel comfy, and heals them of wintertime cracking overnight. (Usually) Wear them religiously, and wear disposable gloves during work. The latex, nitrile and vinyl ones are good for different tasks and withstand different liquids. (This, from a semi-professional pianist who has messed up his hands through carelessness and an apparent "invincibility complex".)
