Laura, Try a pair of Bent Nose Hemostats, Medium size or the Small size, if that's all you can find. Neat thing about those is they can remain on you fingers/hand, while doing other chores and can lock if needed or not. grind one "notch" off and you'll have to really bear down to get them to lock.
