We probably have different requirements here in OZ to you over there in the US, however, I drive a Subaru Outback diesel which gets about 46MPG( in your language). This is a great car which ticks all the boxes for the job we require it to do. Plenty of room for all piano needs etc. The only problem I have had is with the diesel filter clogging up, and having to be de-clogged by the service people at Subaru. No one else can service it as it is entirely a Subaru computer function. I have done 80,000 kl in about 16 months, and it has been a pretty good choice of motor vehicle. Have not tried it in the snow, as we don't have any here where I come from.
