Wim I hear you about the gas mileage. Being a boat owner/enthusiast, I have to be able to haul my boat out of the water on occasions, so I have always tended towards a strong V6 with towing capacity. Otherwise I would be looking toward the new Prius with the extended wagon area. I have a Toyota Matrix for my daughter and was amazed sending her off to college with "worldly possessions", and still having oodles of room left in the back. I would at least give the Matrix a serious look. Excellent mileage, very good dependability, and priced right.
