Yep, valid reasons to be sure.  But I also think it's also pretty clear
that Susan prioritizes this one particular festival over convention.  Why
do they have to have the festival the same week every year.........   ;-]

Certainly there is truth to what both Wim and Susan are saying.  If
convention is your priority, you will go.  If not, not.  And yes, it would
be nice if schedules lined up for everyone, but they don't.  And while
Susan obviously has this conflict when Annual is usually held, I'd hasten
to suggest that if convention is moved one way or another, someone else
will have irreconcilable conflicts.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not necessarily saying that altering the timing
for convention shouldn't be done.  It might be a very reasonable, viable
option.  But no doubt there are real reasons why convention is held when it
is (hotel rates, perhaps).  I doubt very much this scheduling is arbitrary.
