[pianotech] Protec CLP on bass strings

is it a good idea to improve the gliding of bass strings with CLP? Sometimes the angle between tuning pin and speaking lenght termination point (sorry, I forgot the English word for "Silie") is too speep so that the strings will break. Would CLP help? Or will the strings become rusty?
