Jon,
This is very good information along with the other things that I
have. I will try them and see what works for me, I hope. I seem to be mostly
thumbs with this finish stuff but luckily, I'm a bit stubborn too. :-) Much
appreciated!

Appreciatively,

Greg

The dents require a drop of lacquer in the center and allowed to dry,
followed by another application until the divot is brought to level.
Start at the bottom and work up, don't fill to the brim. A less thinned
(evaporated) material is preferable. Scuff down any 'highs' above the
surface with paper backed by a HARD block. A hard block will allow the hi's
to be leveled with minimal finish removed from the surrounding area. A soft
backing to the paper with allow the paper to just 'round-it-out' and dig
into the surrounding surface. Sometimes sanding in one direction only and
observing closely.

An artist's brush or even a toothpick (depending on the size of the
nick/scratch) will drop the lacquer into the area. Burn-in where
appropriate.

Of course, if it were a poly finish... you could just fill it and with a
little sanding and you're done... <g>

Gimme a lacquer repair any day.
