A friend just picked up (free) a great Bush and Lane art-case grand, but with vertical cracks along both sides of the 2 tubular bulges in the 2 struts in the treble area, near the pin web, where 2 nose-bolts pass through. (Created, I suspect, when a 2-thin pinblock was installed, and the plate screwed into the case without lowering the nosebolts first, to get their shoulders temporarily out of the way.) He wants to weld them (with the plate still in the piano, maybe) and as I have no experience with such, am humbly appealing for information. Thanks!
