Will, Ed, etc:

(WARNING: RELIGIOUS TOPIC. VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED)

The real problem in our society is that our minds and hearts are impure. Our population is filled with people that are willing to cheat, lie, steal, manipulate, etc., to get what they want. In our parent's day, business deals were made on a handshake. Not any more. The atmosphere is so full of distrust, that even banks can't trust each other. Banks were required to make loans to those who they knew had no business getting a loan, and knew they couldn't repay. But because they were making "theirs", they didn't care, and passed the risk to unsuspecting investors, and later to the taxpayers.

We have been taught that there is no consequence to our behavior. WRONG! It's your KARMA, stupid! We think that karma is some kind of joke, as in "my Karma just ran over your Dogma." Right? We don't actually believe in karma because we don't actually believe in God. There's no God, so who is gonna catch me? If I can get away with it, why not? The truth is, we are being observed. And we will have to answer to Him for everything we have done. Therefore, we need to not only atone for our ill behavior, but somehow cleanse our hearts so that we do the "right" thing. More on that later.

Nowadays, we don't mind doing anything and everything to get what we want. In our "pursuit of happiness" we ignore the good instruction of our elders, saints, priests and scripture, and unknowingly break the laws of God (karma). Due to the degradation of this age, we have forgotten how to be pious, how to believe in God and depend upon His grace for our sustenance. If we knew our position in relation to God, we would realize that we live under His laws, not our own. Our laws should be in sync with His, not against them. We could start with the 10 commandments. Why not? It should be illegal to have sex with another's wife or anyone with whom you are not married. It causes a lot of problems with unwanted babies, abortion, broken families, etc. Bad Karma. But, oh NO! We can't have THAT! Now you're sounding like those throwback ragheads in the Middle East! The point is, when people ignore God's laws, they get bad karma, and THAT means there are going to be difficulties imposed upon them.

In the past, most civilizations prayed fervently to their God(s) because they knew that there were things that mortal humans couldn't control, like the weather, and consequently, the production of crops. Nowadays, we poo-poo anything of the sort. Why, we have Technology and our Scientists to take care of that. We don't need no God and no stinkin' Bible or anything. That is, until there's no rain. Or too much rain, or hurricanes, tornadoes or??? Then, when all is lost, "Oh God, help us!"
See? We are dependent upon rain, so who can control the rain? We don't care because we think it just "happens". When the population becomes atheistic, Nature punishes them in various ways, just to remind them that there is a higher arrangement for their sustenance and that they need to recognize that.

As far as the economy is concerned, the American public has been cheated for longer than we've been alive. The very currency we use has no value. The King's clothes, anyone? The formation of the Federal Reserve, and the removal of our currency from the gold standard has removed any intrinsic value from our currency. Dollars, and any currency tied to it, are nothing but IOU's. If I can't pay you because he can't pay me, the whole gig is up and the system collapses. This is what is happening as we speak. Soon, no currency in the world will be worth anything. In the past, this has happened, and it is happening again today. So now, with piles of debt so high it can never be repaid, the final nail in the coffin has been pounded home. And those in positions of power, from the top to the bottom, are taking and spending money they have no intent of repaying. Homeowners, who borrowed money for their home, are being given "forgiveness" for their loans. Municipal governments are going bankrupt, leaders are cheating and getting salaries far beyond their worth, and the federal government is spending money they don't have, just to stay in power and prevent chaos. The reality is, whether you want to believe it or not, it is the result of demonic people being in charge and ignoring God's laws. People know that lying, cheating, and stealing are not good. Otherwise, why do thieves steal at night? But, because their hearts and minds are filled with lust and greed, they will do ANYTHING to satisfy their desires. Sadly, every penny that we borrow will have to be repaid. Even if we have to do it in our next life (!). Which is why confiscatory taxes are in our future as far as the eye can see. We're living in the world of matter, not by our design, but by the will of God. Ignoring His advice, we live at our own risk.

It's not a Republican or Democratic problem. Or even Communism or Capitalism. It's deeper than that. It is that we have come to this world to imitate God, and not be His servant. He has given us this world to fulfill our impossible dream of becoming Him, and at the same time, we are given advice to understand our position and try to reform ourselves. But we don't get it. We think that getting all the "gusto" we can is the aim of life, and we run headlong after temporary "happiness". When our attempts are successful, we get a little pleasure. But it doesn't fully satisfy us, and so we run further and further, ignoring the fact that we will die one day. What we don't realize is that we have pleasure within us, that we don't know exists. We don't know where that happiness lies or how to tap into it. We are meant and created to enjoy life with God. This relationship is eternal, and fully satisfying. Nothing else can give us that satisfaction, like a fish out of water can't be happy except in the water. We need to find that lost relationship with God. That will make us happy. This is the message we get from our scriptures.

Gordon Stelter mentions that he's communicated with a Hare Krishna on this list. That would be me. Directly reciting the name of God (Hallowed by Thy Name) changes our heart because His name and He Himself are the same. God is the ultimate pure person, the personification of goodness. By chanting His name, we lose our lust and greediness, and all good qualities become manifest automatically. Our bad Karma is dissolved. And we begin to taste the happiness we have dormant within us. It doesn't matter who you are, or where you came from, what color of skin you have, what religion you profess or any other designation. It will work, as long as you chant a real name of God, ie., Jehovah, Allah, Rama, Yahweh, or Krishna. If even a fraction of the population would do this, the whole world would change.

So, we can blame this group or that. The subtle law of karma influences us in ways that we can't see, and thus we quarrel with each other and fight wars. It's ALL of our collective fault for what is happening to us. The world will go on, despite us and what we are going through at the moment. The real solution is to cleanse our heart by chanting the name of God. Any name of God that suits you, no matter if you have a religion you follow or not. Even if you are an atheist, please recite the names of God anyway. There's no harm, and you'll feel happy just doing that.

"HARE KRISHNA HARE KRISHNA
KRISHNA KRISHNA HARE HARE
  HARE RAMA HARE RAMA
  RAMA RAMA HARE HARE"

(where's George Harrison when you need him!)

Thanks for listening,

We live in a time where our political discourse has deteriorated so much that merely claiming that something is true makes it so, if you continue to repeat it in the loudest possible voice. No need of facts, reason, or logic anymore. Those pesky facts cloud the false narrative that one is promoting.
(we're not going to let fact-checkers get in the way). So, we have come to this.

IF, I accuse the (Obama, liberal, Democrat) government of being anti-business, THEN it must be true that the (Obama, liberal, Democrat) government is anti-business. That's what is known as circular logic. In
more modern, demagogic terms, Frame and Blame.

"Anybody that wants the ease of government protection has to embrace either socialism or communism".

You have made a blanket statement here, Ed, which, like a neo-con's welfare queen, has no visible means of support.

That statement has no basis in fact, even. Our democracy has had various kinds of protectionism regarding trade and the various forms of immigration almost since its inception. Since before Karl Marx was a gleam in his mother's eye.

WHY must I embrace either socialism or communism if I believe in SOME
government protections? Are you saying that IF I believe in ANY government
protectionism (great or small), THEN it follows that I am a rotten doctor commie rat?

"the EASE of government protection". Are we talking about a bunch of Liberal Slackers here?

I always thought of myself as a capitalist. Gee whiz, now I'm going to have to go join some boring cabal and face arrest and execution after President Romney appoints Michele Bachman Director of the FBI!

Let me remind our dear readers that this H1B Work Visa discussion began when Duane's wife, for the third time, was replaced in her job by an immigrant worker on an H1B Work Visa. I have no quarrel with the person who replaced her - I will assume that he or she is also a hard working person who wants only to support their family. But it is absolutely legitimate to have the discussion about how to best serve the COMMON WELFARE OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE in terms of the extent and limits of the protections of jobs for American workers. And that is not an either - or discussion. The issues are difficult and complex, and take place in a fluid and rapidly changing world.

When we formed this more perfect union that is the United States, it wasn't done solely to serve the corporations.

Ed has made no mention of the human cost of the unbridled free market that he appears to be promoting here. As Duane and his wife can tell you, those costs are real. Or do they not matter to Ed, whose world seems to be made up only of Winners and Losers?
