Yes, but only in the staple area and I do not let itcreep higher than about 8:30 and 3:30. FWIW I treat all Hammers this way as do some European makers (ie. Steingraebber)

       One          rarely notices any tonal effect from this application in and          of itself but I notice a solidifying affect in the tone of the          Weickert felt hammers quite dramatically...and that was from          the very first set I applied this protocol to.
