The newer style solenoids don't require pressing down on the keys. To determine which style you have, reach in and press down on a solenoid with your finger. The old style is spring loaded, the new style is not. Dean Dean W May (812) 235-5272 voice and text PianoRebuilders.com (888) DEAN-MAY Terre Haute IN 47802 Give us a LIKE on Facebook! When putting the action back in the piano it is advised that just before the action is getting to the dampers, which is also the time the back of the keys move over the plungers of the piano disc, that you press all the keys down. The easiest way to do this is to take the front rail, lay it on the keys so that it hits the sharps and white keys at the same time, and press the keys down. This raises the backs of all the keys to allow them to clear the plungers. Press the sustain pedal to lift all the dampers up to clear the backs of the keys that are also up with all the keys pressed down. If you don't, you'll most likely peal a few damper lifter felts off to help you learn not to do that again. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
