I find it is usually the size of a vise-grip around the outside of the screw head.

What’s the hex size to get into an Everett piano?  Thought I had the right one in bag, and it turned out to be a Kawai leg hex.

 

Also  the brand “Howard”, produced by Kawai.  Does one search Kawai numbers, or Baldwin numbers, or Acrosonic numbers to learn the age of such a thing.?
