I saw one of those in the recent past. Can't exactly remember whether I
tuned it or not. It is everything you say. And I can't believe that it
could serve the purpose for which it was supposedly designed. At best it
would have to be tuned at every new location.

portable piano. I had never seen one of these things before although I
heard rumors of such an animal. It is literally an acoustic piano for
road gigs that folds up into it's own case. Awkward to say the least,
terrible to say the most. With 5-1/2 octaves it has a spinet action with
a very bizarre arrangement for the keyboard to fold up. There are only
single strings in the bass and two in the treble. The scaling was
horrible, there was no way to get a clean temperament out of it. Every
string had it's own wild false beat. This was an "emergency" call for a
band that was playing at a local club. I don't think it sounded much
better when I left but at least it was at 440. The scary part of this is
that apparently the company also made a fold-up portable grand too.
