Marshall,

You can also take off the action nuts and lean the action back just enough to get a damper wire bender down in there and even up the spoon with the other dampers.

  Hi Tom,
  Thanks for the other things to check. I did check damper timing with the pedal, and the pedal adjustment.  damper won't lift when the key is depressed, but does fine with bass sustain is depressed.  I'd be suprised if it wasn't a spoon, Damper spring tension seems good also.
