It depends on whether 'wind' is a noun or a verb. The verb would be a long
'i' as in "WIND the clock". The noun would be a short 'i' as in "a strong
northern WIND". I would suspect that your usage would be the noun since
moving air is used to actuate the player mechanism and the motor would be
used to create the air flow.

Subject: [pianotech] Wind motor in player piano

Is it pronounced with a short i like Gone With the Wind, or a long i like in
"wind up a ball of string?"
