Drill the plug out with a small drill bit such that a plug can be made
from a round tooth pick bearing in mind the two strands of cord.

Much like a 'needle threader', make a threader from thin wire
to pull the cord loop through the hole.

Notice the length of the other loops and make a retainer
for the loop at the repetition lever while you tension the
cord and insert the plug with glue. A toothpick across the slot
will probably work unless it needs to be recessed a bit.
Trim excess cord.

Don't cut individual pieces, fabricate the new cords from a spool.
