In most tied actions the abstrakt is pinned to the lever where the heel would be and clips onto a pin running through a key-carriage, which is adjustable (it rocks) by means of two screws fore and aft. In the case of the Becker, some concert Ibachs and the old Erard, there is no carriage and the three-part abstrakt clips onto a pin running through the key itself. One end of the abstract has a right-hand thread and the other a left-hand thread and the middle section is turned with a spanner or a needle to adjust the effective length of the abstrakt -- which is far more convenient, but expensive to produce. If forget whether the Becker had a square middle scction to adjust with a spanner or whether it was drilled to take a regulating needle. JD
