Ron, Ditto on Steve's post . One other source can be a plate casting date usually found at or near the bottom of the plate near the pedal assemblies. Look for --Kelly or Wickham with a date . The piano might have been built in the following year but it will put you in the ballpark. I have some fun with my clients. I remove the case parts for inspection (a good way to get a cleaning job by the way) and if the casting date is there I stand up , put my hand on the lid , close my eyes and tell the customer the piano was built in 1952. Then look up the serial # in Pierce and what do you know! After their amazement at my vast knowledge I fess up and we have a laugh. I'm easily amused. They apparently didn't keep records or discarded them without allowing them to be published. I did find "Conn" in the 12th edition of the Pierce Piano Atlas and they mentioned that Conn was sold to Kimball but the serial number I have doesn't match in the Kimball numbers either. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Ron Boyd Milwaukee chapter _______________________________________________ -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
